Interesting facts about our hotel in Oberammergau
Our village, first named in records in 1167, enjoys worldwide fame thanks to the Passion Play (performed since 1634) and its wood carvings.
Take the time to visit the jewels of our home village like the church, the Passion Play Theater, the Oberammergau Museum, the old townhouses with their traditional mural designs, and the local folk art - and you will grow to love the place we call home.
The history of our hotel:
The current village church was constructed between 1736 and 1742. It was around this time that a hut used by the builders of the church tower was turned into what would later become the local village tavern, the "Turmwirt". Although our building has been renovated and extended as tourism has grown over the centuries, today's hotel still has all of the coziness of that old tavern.
Our family has owned the "Turmwirt" for several generations, and we endeavor to look after our guests in the traditional Bavarian style.

A generous breakfast buffet awaits guests every morning in the brand-new breakfast area in the "Alte Bürgerstube" room. Bright and friendly in design but using traditional materials in some places, the breakfast area is a feast for the eyes as well.
The standard of the reception and lobby area has been improved with fine furnishings.
The hotel now also features a fitness suite with a treadmill, a cross-trainer, a rowing machine and an abdominal trainer.
A Finnish sauna, a steam room, an infrared cabin, a generous shower room, and loungers for relaxation.
